Muscular Strength Classes

Our muscular strength classes-FREE to YMCA members- are focused on results. Regardless of your level of fitness, we have a muscle strength class for you to help you enhance your flexibility, balance and overall muscle strength. From Abs, Glutes & Legs to Total Body Conditioning, choose the workout that's right for you and benefit from the expertise of our highly trained certified fitness instructors.

Body Balance

A fusion of flexibility, core conditioning and fluidity of movement using mounted ballet bars. This class is designed to build strength from static movements and also flexibility from long, sweeping dance-based movements. 30-minute class

Body Chisel

Strengthen and tone targeted muscle groups using a variety of equipment. Complete a specific workout in a short time. 30-minute class.

Boot Camp

This class mixes traditional calisthenic and body weight exercises with interval and strength training.  It also includes various forms of skipping, jumping ropes and interval training that involves bursts of high intensity work.

Crunch Time

This is class devoted to abdominal work.  Members only

Fit For Life

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seating and/or standing support.

H.I.P.E. (High Intensity Performance & Endurance)

HIPE is a fast-paced, energetic class that focuses on natural body mechanics to help strengthen your stabilizer muscles, and help build a rock-solid core. It is designed to increase strength, endurance, and cardiovascular health.

Interval Boot Camp

This high energy class consists of various strength and cardiovascular stations that will challenge your fitness level. These exercises can work to improve sports performance, as well as have a conditioning effect. This class is for all levels of fitness enthusiasts. Stations consist of rope jumping, step, agility drills/sports moves, jogging, push ups, vertical jumps, cycling and much more!

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a 12 week exercise program for adult cancer survivors (men and women) who have become deconditioned or chronically fatigued from their disease and/or treatment. The program offers both aquatic and a small group exercise program.

Muscle Mix

High intensity consists of warm up, stretch, 30-40 minute muscle conditioning and cool-down. Non-choreographed.

Pilates

Series of mat exercises that improve flexibility, joint mobility, and builds strength. Benefits are long, strong muscles, a flat stomach, strong back and improved posture. Also good for stress management. May use balls and additional equipment.

Plyometric High Intensity Training (P.H.I.T.)

Have you hit a plateau in your training regimen? Well muscle confusion is what will help you conquer that obstacle. This fast paced, energetic class will focus on natural body mechanics to help strengthen your stabilizer muscles, and help you build a rock solid core. It is designed to increase strength, endurance, and cardiovascular health. A pre-test is required to take the advanced class.

Power Pump

Get results with this strength class that heats up all the major muscle groups for a total body workout. Using weight plates, a bar and dumbbells, you will build strength and sculpt your body. Participates will work at their own level of resistance. Great for all levels of fitness.

Power Rope Fitness

This course is a fusion of strength and low-impact cardio together with the rope! It is a total body workout that can be modified for all ages. There's no rest for a single muscle as you use the whipping motion to fight against your own power. 1/2 hour class.

Pump

This muscular strength endurance program is designed to shape and tone. Participants use light hand weights. No aerobics in this class.

Stability Ball

This total body strengthening workout not only emphasizes targeted muscle groups, but also enhances stability, balance and flexibility with every move. Concentration on the core postural muscles.

Stretch-N-Flex

This program improves flexibility for all ages and fitness levels.

TNT (Tighten and Tone)

This class will improve muscular strength and endurance, toning and shape your whole body! By utilizing various exercise equipment, you will increase your metabolism, improve lean muscle mass and decrease body fat. All skill levels welcome!

Women's Express Circuit

No mirrors, no sweat, no men! This 30-minute workout is for women who are beginning an exercise program (may be even their first) in a special area of the Y. Includes cardio, weight training and crunches. You'll enjoy the results! Members only.

Yoga

Learn the latest strength and relaxation techniques with Yoga. Learn the beginning poses accompanied by meditation to soothe spirit, mind and body.

YMCA Extreme Fitness

This cardio-based class consists of kick boxing, drills, circuit training, step, calisthenic exercises plus so much more!  Your body will love the cross training benefits of this YMCA Extreme Fitness class.
